Hot One Inch Action Show

Last night was my first time down to the Hot One Inch Action button show (6th Ever show). Always good when I get a chance to hang out with the talented Atomos. Glad I was able to submit a piece for the show and it was excepted.

These are the piece I liked the most out of the 50 artists in the show (personal taste). There were as many “bangers” as I would have liked, but maybe next year.
It might be cool to have more in the range of 150 artist in a show at once although I’m sure it would be a logistical nightmare. ^__^

Chocolate lovers!

OK, Seriously, I have to climb down from the ceiling every time I watch this trailer. I mean, I was blown away at the blurry SDCC 2008 leaked version that had been available up until this point, but holy crap!!!
I wish I was working on this film. The original file was the first and biggest influence on me as a kid. Not even STAR WARS can hold a candle this story concept for me. Unquestionably a pillar in my design sense foundation.

Chibi Charms: Tentoumushi

Yo Chocolate lovers!

Check it check it check it! My design for my Chibi Chamrs artist series have arrived not moments ago. Produced by adFunture, The first 2 designs in series 1 are my ‘Tentoumushi’ (Ladybug) Good luck colour: Red = Overall luck energy, and the other design released was done by MAD ‘Madidas’ Good luck colour: Black = Strong profits. These little guys feel awesome in the hand. They’re about the size of a hardball and feature the same rocking action as the OGs. Gett’em fresh here before they hit the streets. Hit me up on Twitter. Hello Chocolatiers!

Here’s a little 3D concept I built last year on Mad’s Madl. The final pieces were actually printed out on a Zcorp 510 in a few different sizes as test of the machine. Now a few live on my desk and a couple call Mad Toy Design home. Decided to do a quick animation to show it off. Steve Talkowski was kind enough to do me a quick render that I was able to slap into iMovie and voilà!
Sorry if the song gets stuck in your head all day. (hehe)

I've had the honour of being one if the artist given the opportunity to be part of the upcoming Beit Dude show at ToyQube. GB5 will be on display and for sale. Make sure to check it out.

Event Date: May 8th @ ToyQube The BEit Dude custom figures will be on who have not seen the toy and want to see what the artists done to them. The designs show the versatility of the toy, along with the endless possibilities that could be created. The event starts at 8pm. The customs at the show will be available for sale, and we will be giving out Kicktoys t-shirts throughout the night. Get out there and enjoy the event and celebrate the beginning of a new way to play. We will also be previewing our next concept toy to the public! Don't miss it!

Sup Chocolatiers!

Dreams to Dreams: DCTO Custom Show 2008.

Dacosta! a.k.a CHOCOLATE SOOP and the Japanese American National Museum have assembled the first custom toy show held in a museum. 45+ artists have customized his DCTO (Dreams Come True Object) Jibun Project, a futuristic version of the traditional Daruma toy. The theme of the show is "Dreams to Dreams" and is based on the poem of the same title which speaks to childhood dreams, possibilities and looking to the future.

Opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2008

The finished art pieces will be on display at the Japanese American National Museum from December 1, 2008 through January 4, 2009. Pieces will be available for sale through the Museum Store.

The show will lead up to Oshogatsu weekend (a significant celebration in Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo area). there will be educational and entertaining programs that tell the significance of Daruma and other cultural icons for the New Year.

Dreams to Dreams...

Hello Chocolatiers!

It's been a minute since the last post and there's lots and plenty on the go.

First off: I am very happy to announce 'Dreams to Dreams' the DCTO custom show is locked for December 6th, 2008 to January 4th, 2009 at JANM (Japanese American National Museum) in LA. 50+ invited artists are already working their magic the DCTO figures. I'll have a list of the artists for you soon.

Next: DCTO Spring Contest... Now that Spring is finally here, the DIY GID DCTO will be going on sale soon on the Chocolate Soop Shop Price 40.00USD. Here's your chance to win 1 of 2 DIY GID DCTO for your very own in a Chocolatier exclusive mission. All you have to do is send in a photo of your DCTO in a Zen spot that you love to hang out at. In a park, your favourite café, the train station, wherever it is that you find your stillness. There no major rules other than you have be on the mailing list (Only my fellow Chocolatiers are eligible), and you have to have taken the photo yourself. In focus and good lighting are pluses. Short listed photos will be posted on the DCTO project site. Closing date for photos is April 30, 2008. The 2 best photos (IMO) will each win a DIY GID DCTO. The sakura are blossoming, so get out there and find your Zen.
